Gene Munster of Piper Jaffray said that the announcement by Orange puts the iPhone's international rollout about eight months ahead of expectations, and gives Apple more of a chance to pass its goal of selling 10 million iPhones this year. Munster estimates Apple will sell 12.9 million iPhones in 2008 and 45 million in 2009.
This week, Apple's online store stopped taking orders for iPhones, adding to expectations that the company is reducing inventories in advance of debuting a 3G version of the iPhone at its annual developers conference in San Francisco in June.
